Industry contribution to the GDP
Dear Eurostat,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I would like to ask what is the contribution of industry to GDP of the EU and what is the exact goal in the relevant field that the EU is aiming to achieve by 2020?
According to "Industrial revolution brings industry back to Europe" (Commission's memo) and Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions "For A European Industrial Renaissance" it seems that the contribution of industry to the EU's GDP is ca. 15-16% and the 2020 goal is to reach 20% share.
On the other hand, according to the relevant World Bank data it turns out that the contribution of industry to the EU's GDP is c.a. 24% (while to contribution of manufacturing is c.a. 15%).
Therefore, I would like to specify:
-what is the contribution of industry to GDP of the EU?
-is "manufacturing/manufacturing industry" a synonym of "industry" in the relevant field? (similar case in other authentic versions of the documents, e.g. Polish)
Yours faithfully,
Ziemowit Jóźwik
