Officials in Northern Ireland
Dear Taxation and Customs Union,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
How many officials you have in Northern Ireland?
What is likely to be the cost per year?
Whether the United Kingdom or European Union is paying for this?
Yours faithfully,
Abdul Hai
Dear Mr Hai,
In response to your questions I can inform you that Directorate-General
Taxation and Customs Union (TAXUD) has currently six officials in Northern
Ireland who work in close cooperation with the UK authorities. The costs
for our staff working in Northern Ireland are covered by the European
Union and are mainly consisting of the salaries and some travel expenses.
No further details can be provided as these are considered to be protected
by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We also ask for your
understanding that we need to protect the safety and security of our staff
in Northern Ireland.
Kind regards,
Jozef Hupperetz
