Dear Secretariat General of the European Commission,
Considering your proposal for a fair solution, we insist in getting access to the documents in digital format. We are not based in Brussels. Consultation at the premises of DG NEAR would involve travel, hotel and other costs.
About the documents;
1. Documents from the Cabinet of the former Commission President Delors relating to
the period 1989-1992. These documents would be sent to us with a separate letter by 25 March. However we have not received it (not published here on Ask the EU).
2. 20 boxes:
- Files closed up to 1994 (files older than 30 years): the analysis will be made by the
Historical Archives Service in application of Council Regulation (EEC, Euratom) No
354/83.
Considering that the files are older than 30 years old, please consider full public access in digital format.
- Files closed after 1994: the analysis will be made by the competent Commission
Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations in application of
Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001. Please note that for these files, you will receive the reply
from the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations in due
course.
DG NEAR has asked for 3 weeks extention of the deadline.
Yours faithfully,
Arun Dohle

Dear [email address],
Thank you.
We have received the documents and had them scanned at our expenses.
We fail to see how copying documents is less time consuming than scanning them. Let alone the waste of paper and the delivery cost.
Please continue the preparations for access in your reading room.
Yours sincerely,
Arun Dohle
Dear [email address],

As you can see below, I had agreed on 23 April 2024 to the proposal to access the documents in a reading room in Brussels. Pls let us know when and where , so that we can prepare for someone to access the documents and scan them.
