Dear European Police Office,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

1)The list of citizens prosecuted in European airports between 2010 and 2013 for the smuggling of counterfeit goods
2)The list of the most common European airports where these incidents have occurred (preferably in order)
3)The general and average net worth of counterfeit goods that have been seized in European airports
4)The most common countries and continents where counterfeit goods have been sourced from (2010-2013)
5)The amount of citizens that have been prosecuted for smuggling counterfeit goods while travelling to Irish airports (2010-2013)

Yours faithfully,

Katie Coyle

Dear Ms Coyle,

Europol has searched and identified documents possibly falling within the
scope of your request. Please find attached the following document
publically available:

EU Serious and Organised Crime Threat Assessment (SOCTA) 2013

We find no other document containing the information you request. Please
note that this does not mean you have been refused public access, but
rather that the documents you seek containing the specific information you
mention are not present. You might find of relevance the Commission
Reports on EU customs enforcement of intellectual property rights
available on the web.

Thank you for showing interest in our organisation.

Kind regards,

Dear Mrs Coyle,

The SOCTA 2014 is not yet produced, and is likely to come out towards the end of this year / beginning of 2015.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Dear G24 EU & International Law,

I want to request a more recent/ more specific document about counterfeit good seizures in the EU, if any have come available since my earlier request.

Dear Mrs Coyle,

Thank you very much for your request.

For it to be considered a public access request, we would ask that you specify your request further, including some further details about a timeframe, as well as content you wish to access, as the scope is too broad to allow us a meaningful search, and the timeline too vague (i.e. as of when is more recent?).

As such, we look forward to hearing from you, and should you wish some general information, rather than pose a request for public access, you are also always welcome to contact our public relations office at [EUROPOL request email].

Kind regards,

G24 - EU & International Law
