Dear Ms Eberhardt,
Thank you for your e-mail dated 12 December 2014, which was registered on under reference number GESTDEM 2015/156.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents an extended time limit was needed in order to retrieve the documents requested. The new time limit expires on 16/2/2015.
The handling of your request involves documents from the former Cabinet Barnier for which a special procedure is required for obtaining the documents if there are. The search of the documents and their analysis in accordance with Article 4(4) 4(5) of Regulation 1049/2001, cannot be expected to be completed within the normal time limits set out in Article 7 of Regulation 1049/2001.
However, the Regulation also provides for a possibility to confer with applicants in order to find a fair solution. When an application concerns a very large number of documents. Article 6(3) provides that "in the event of an application relating to a very long document or to very large number of documents, the institution concerned may confer with the applicant informally, with a view to finding a fair solution".
Based on this provision, we would propose to send you our answer no later than 16 of March.
We hope we will able to provide you with our answer/the documents before this date.
If you have any questions concerning this proposal, you can contact me.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Yours sincerely,
Didier Boulouque

Dear Ms Eberhardt,
We refer to your e-mail dated 12/12/2014 in which you make a request for
access to documents, registered on 05/01/2015 under the above mentioned
reference number, and to our holding reply dated 26/01/2015.
Your application concerns documents that had to be retrieved by the
historical archives and assessed individually. The analysis of these
documents, together with the need to consult members of the former Cabinet
as well as third parties and other DGs, could not be completed within the
normal time limits set out in Article 7 of Regulation 1049/2001, due to
the recent reorganization of our Directorate General in the new
Commission.
We apologize once again for this further delay and for any inconvenience
this may cause and will come back to you in the coming days.
Kind regards,
