Access to documents – Enveritas and Regulation (EU) 2023/1115
Dear Sir or Madam,
Under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to European Parliament, Council and Commission documents, I hereby request access to documents concerning Enveritas.
For the purpose of this request, “Enveritas” refers to the U.S.-based non-profit organisation active in the coffee sector, which provides verification services related to deforestation-free supply chains and has publicly positioned its model in relation to Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (EU Deforestation Regulation, EUDR). This includes documents referring to “Enveritas”, “Enveritas Inc.”, and communications involving its executives, staff, consultants or representatives.
I request access to:
- All correspondence (including emails, letters and attachments) between officials of DG Environment and representatives of Enveritas concerning the EUDR, from 1 January 2022 to the present.
- All minutes, meeting notes, agendas, records of meetings (including virtual meetings and calls) between DG Environment and Enveritas in which the EUDR was discussed during the same period.
- Any internal documents (including briefings, notes to file, internal assessments or implementation guidance) in which Enveritas is mentioned in relation to the interpretation, implementation, enforcement, monitoring, review or possible amendment of the EUDR.
If parts of the requested documents are covered by exceptions under Article 4 of Regulation 1049/2001, I request partial access to the remaining parts.
If the request is considered too broad, I would welcome assistance in narrowing its scope pursuant to Article 6(2).
I prefer to receive the documents in electronic format.
Kind regards,
Irene van den Berg
