Dear Environment,

I would like to request access to documents under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

In particular, I am interested in the role of satellite-based monitoring and private data providers.

I kindly request access to the following documents:
1) Any correspondence (including emails, meeting minutes, or briefings) between DG Environment and Airbus, Airbus Defence and Space, or representatives thereof, related to:
- the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
- geolocation requirements
- deforestation monitoring or verification
- satellite-based compliance tools
2) Any records of meetings (including agendas, minutes, or participant lists) between DG Environment and Airbus or its representatives concerning EUDR or forest monitoring, including stakeholder consultations.
3) Any internal documents (including reports, technical assessments, or briefing notes) discussing:
- the use of satellite data for EUDR implementation
- the role of private providers such as Airbus in deforestation monitoring
- advantages, limitations, or risks of satellite-based monitoring approaches
4) Any documents assessing or referencing specific platforms or services (including but not limited to “Starling”) in the context of EUDR compliance or due diligence.
5) Any documents discussing potential risks, limitations, or uncertainties related to the use of satellite data in the context of EUDR enforcement, including impacts on smallholder farmers or data accuracy.

The timeframe for this request is from 1 January 2020 to the present date.
