Gerbiamas Komisare,
sveikiname Jus su paskyrimu eiti už aplinką, vandenynus ir žuvininkystę atsakingo Komisijos nario
pareigas bei linkime šiame darbe visokeriopos sėkmės.
Cefic, the voice of the chemical industry in Europe, would like to
support you in your mission of
ensuring that EU’s environment, blue economy and fisheries sector form an integral part of the
European Green Deal, helping to deliver on climate ambitions while creating jobs and sustainable
growth.
We look forward to working with you by exploring ‘Green Deal solutions’ from wind turbines, solar
panels and electric vehicles to better batteries, energy efficient buildings and chemical recycling of
plastics and waste.
Through the Responsible Care initiative, the chemical industry is committed to the safe management
of chemicals while promoting their role in improving quality of life and contributing to sustainable
development. This is our guiding principle and our ethical commitment.
We would welcome the opportunity for
a delegation of our industry’s leading CEOs to meet with
you and your team to discuss potential solutions to support your work in the following fields:
•
Circular Economy - It is technically possible to recycle almost every type of waste, especially if
products are designed with a view to reuse and recycling. This provides the European chemical
industry with a unique opportunity to not only be a producer of products but also to lead the
way in preserving value through multiple life cycles, including the chemical recycling of waste;
•
Zero-Pollution Ambition - Cefic fully supports and is committed to making REACH work. The
chemical industry is ready to support the Commission and the ECHA in this regard, including
through the supply of evidence-based information and data;
•
Our new Mid-Century Vision - which illustrates pathways towards a cleaner, safer, more circular
and digitalised European chemicals industry in 2050. That is only two investment cycles away for
an industry that thinks in decades. As a 650 billion euros industry with trillions of euros of
potential, we must develop our own competitive place in the global economy.
We look forward to working with you in the coming years, exploring the pathways for realising the
potential of the Green Deal. If we may, we will contact your office to explore possible dates.
Yours sincerely,
Daniele Ferrari
