Accountability of judges
Dear European Court of Justice,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
Detailed breakdowns of expenditures and allowances for each judge and advocate general of the Court, including documents related to the reimbursement of travels and accommodations costs and number of days spent by each judge in Luxembourg.
My request concerns administrative documents and not documents related to the Court in its jurisdictional function.
Yours faithfully,
Pina lignani

Dear Ms lignani,
In response to your request I can inform you that the salaries and allowances of Judges and Advocates General are determined by Regulation 422/67, the latest consolidated version of which is attached to this email. The salaries are calculated with reference to the salary of the highest paid EU Official, which currently stands at 18962.24 euros per month. We are unable to provide you with precise details of the salaries or benefits of individual judges, as to do so would reveal personal information about that judge's private circumstances.
As to the second part of your request concerning documents relating to travel and accommodation expenses, I would invite you to submit an official access to documents request pursuant to the Decision of the Court of 11 December 2012 concerning public access to documents held by the Court of Justice of the European Union in the exercise of its administrative functions (see http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/E... ), using the form provided on our website: http://curia.europa.eu/jcms/jcms/P_184871/ .
Regards,
Rita Erhard
