Dear Ms/Mr Farrell,

In reply to your request, please note that the information you require is contained in the plenary minutes. Indeed the minutes include an attendance register with mention of the excused Members by the President in accordance with the applicable rules.

See for example the plenary minutes of 30 Nov. 2016 on the European Parliament's website: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/se...

You can directly access all minutes for the 8th legislative term via the link:
http://www.europarl.europa.eu/plenary/en...

No single document provides aggregated attendance data per MEP/nationality in the way you refer. The most comprehensive tool gathering the main parliamentary activities of each MEP, is the Member's individual web page on European Parliament's website. In the specific case of the 11 Irish Members, the relevant pages are: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/meps/en/se...

Parliament considers your request as handled and the file as closed. Please do not hesitate to come back to us, should you have any further request for specific documents. In this respect, we invite you to consult the public register of Parliament's documents: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegistreWe...

Sincere regards

Hello,

Thank you for your response. However one major aspect has not been addressed which is the reason for why the member was excused.

The links you provide show an attendance letter that offers just the names of absentees but with no reasoning.

Is there a database for why an MEP has been excused.

Yours sincerely,

C. Farrell

Dear Ms/Mr Farrell,

Thank you for your mail.

Only MEPs' absences are recorded. There is no database that records the reasons for those absences.

Please note that Parliament's administration is closed from 23 December 2016 to 2 January 2017 (both included).
