Dear Ms Darbishire,

The Citizens’ Enquiries Unit (AskEP) of the European Parliament has been
asked to reply to your request for information of 12 November 2014
concerning our service.

We would inform you that the Citizens' Enquiries Unit does not dispose of
a specific budget allocated to it, other than expenses related to staff
costs, which are managed by the competent service.

As of 26 November 2014, the Citizens' Enquiries Unit has a total of 21
members of staff – 18 officials, 1 temporary agent and 2 contractual
agents. The staff is responsible for the treatment of all citizens'
enquiries, as well as other tasks incumbent with the mission of the
European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS).

As far as the number of enquiries forwarded to the Citizens' Enquiries
Unit by the Transparency Unit is concerned, this amounts to a total of 14
for the year 2013 and up until now in 2014.

With regard to your other questions, we would inform you that our unit
produces a quarterly report (Ask EP – Insight) containing information on
the number of enquiries received, statistics on topics of enquiry, inter
alia. The last two editions of this review, [1]Ask EP – Insight (Nos 7 and
8) are available online, on the EPRS webpage. The previous six editions
are enclosed in pdf format.

If you are interested in any future publications of AskEP, please consult
the [2]EPRS blog.

We thank you for contacting the European Parliament.

Yours sincerely,

Citizens' Enquiries Unit
