Commercial salmon netting at sea; Habitats Directive

We're waiting for Jim Haughey to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Environment (ENV),

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

I am requesting information referring to the following:
With reference to the package meeting on 24 January 2012 between the EU Directorate-General for the Environment and the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs UK (DEFRA) regarding breaches of the Habitats Directive; this included an item concerning Northern Ireland - Commercial salmon netting at sea. The meeting took place in Brussels.
I have been refused the minutes of the meeting under a previous request.
Instead, can I have a summary of the discussions which took place?

Yours faithfully,

Jim Haughey

Dear Environment (ENV),

Thank you for the response dated 9 Oct 2013.

Mr Speight has asked for comments within one month - in light of the possible complexities of the case which may require more time than one month to consider,
I would be grateful if this period could be extended.I would request that the complaint file be kept open, as we believe there may be sufficient grounds for action against the UK, and evidence gathering may need more time.

Yours faithfully,

Jim Haughey

Dear Mr Haughey,

On 05/10/2013 (before expiration of the deadline), you sent a confirmatory
application to Directorate General for Environment (DG ENV) because you
didn't received any answer to your request for access to documents ref.
GestDem 2013-4323.

In the meantime, DG ENV sent you a (positive) reply to this request (see
annex).

We therefore consider your confirmatory request as devoid of purpose and
so we will not register it.

Should you have another point of view, please let us know.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Environment (ENV),

I do not understand the contents of the letter from the EU of 10 October 2013.

Is this in reply to my letter of 9 October 2013?

If so, I feel this warrants a review as the EU took a long time to reply to my request and I do not think it fair that I should be foreced to compile a complex response within 4 weeks.

Yours faithfully,

Jim Haughey

Dear Mr Haughey

I am the case handler for the file. Please feel free to take additional
time to respond. We are required to write giving people at least 4 weeks
to comment (standard requirement). Would 8 weeks be sufficient?

Best regards

Dear Environment (ENV),

Re your letter of 16 October 2013.

Yes, 8 weeks will be sufficient.

Please confirm the target end date so there is no misunderstanding.

Thank you for your help,

Yours faithfully,

Jim Haughey

Environment

Dear Mr Haughey

Some of the confusion has resulted from the fact that you appear to be using a different e-mail system which is aimed at channelling access to documents requests rather than correspondence on open complaints. Would you be able to send me this request on the e-mail for which we have you registered as complainant?

Regards

Sibylle Grohs

Is this the correct email ? If not, can you direct me as to how you want it done ?

It appears we are corresponding on a public website so our correspondence is accessible to all. This is not normally how we correspond with complainants on their own complaints. So to avoid this I was suggesting you e-mail me from your own private e-mail.

I have another e-mail address registered for you in the complaint file but as we appear to be corresponding in public on this address of "astheeu" I do not know want to give your private e-mail out to all.

Regards

Sibylle Grohs
