Dear Economic and Financial Affairs (ECFIN),
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
* all correspondence between between Vice-President Rehn

We refer to your email of 7 March 2013, in which you submit a request for
access to all correspondence, all minutes of meetings and all logs of
phone calls relating to contacts between Vice-President Rehn or his
Cabinet and private sector companies and lobby groups since February 2012,
related to the work "Towards a genuine economic and monetary union".
We have examined your request and see that it is a very broadly formulated
request, which would require extensive searches on different locations
which would potentially generate a very large number of documents. In
particular, the issues tackled in the document "Towards a genuine economic
and monetary union" are particularly numerous and far-reaching (future of
economic governance of the EMU). These issues have been subject of
countless debates and exchanges, in and outside the Commission and the EU
institutions.
It is not really feasible to retrieve documents on such a generally
formulated criteria and such a process would be very labour-intensive and
time consuming.
Consequently, we are unable to handle your request in its present form.
Alternatively, we would kindly suggest you to narrow down the scope of
your request, so as to reduce it to a more manageable amount of documents.
In consequence, the deadline of 2 April 2013 communicated to you in our
acknowledgement of 8 March 2013 will be suspended until we will receive an
answer to our request to narrow the scope of your request, if you wish so.
