Correspondence and communication between EU Comission and foreign competition authorities over ongoing antitrust investigation into German carmakers.

The request was refused by Competition.

Cecilia Keating

Dear Competition,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

In regards to the ongoing antitrust investigation into Volkswagen, Daimler and BMW, Canada's National Observer was informed by an EU spokesperson on 02.05.19 that "the Commission has contacted by a number of Third Country competition authorities and informed them bilaterally what the investigation was about."

I would like details of all correspondence and communication the EU Commission has had with competition authorities of countries outside of the European Union about the ongoing investigation – from the beginning of the investigation in September 2018 until the present.

This could include:
- dated background and briefing documents about the investigation shared bilaterally
- dated minutes and other reports of meetings and phone calls held between the EU and foreign competition authorities about the investigation
- dated emails, letters, faxes and telephone call notes where the EU and foreign competition authorities discussed the investigation.
