Dear Sir,

We refer to your e-mail dated 05/04/2016  in which you make a request for
access to documents.

The description given in your application is very broad making it
difficult to identify concrete documents which would correspond to your
request, and the lead DG to which the request will be attributed.

We therefore invite you, pursuant to Article 6(2) of Regulation (EC) No
1049/2001 regarding public access to documents, to provide us with more
detailed information on the documents which you seek to obtain, such as
the subject concerned, references, …

If you need assistance in clarifying or specifying your application, you
can contact us by email to: [1][email address]

The 15 working days the time limit for handling your application will
start running when we receive the requested clarifications.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Secretariat General Documents Team,

I note the contents of your message. To slim down the scope of my requests, I have revised the wording to:

1) copies of all correspondence sent by Rupert Murdoch to *the Commissioner or any other staff member at the grade of Deputy-Director General or above within* the Secretariat General or any other Directorate-General of the European Commission since 1.1.2013.

and

2) copies of all correspondence sent by *the Commissioner or any other staff member at the grade of Deputy-Director General or above within* the Secretariat General or any other Directorate-General of the European Commission to Rupert Murdoch since 1.1.2013.

I think this limits the request considerably. Given the scope of some of the other requests on this site, I am sure responding to this will now be possible. Thank you for your support with this.

Yours faithfully,

Wim Piper

Dear Mr Piper,

We refer to your e-mail dated 07/04/2016 in which you make a request for
access to documents, and to our request for clarifications sent on
05/04/2016.

In our request for clarifications, we asked you to precise the subject of
the requested correspondence.  Nevertheless, in your answer dated
07/04/2016, you didn't include any information on this subject.

Unfortunately we are not in a position to allocate your request to the
DG(s) responsible (that will deal with your request) without knowing the
subject matter of the documents to which you request access.

Please indicate the subject matter related to the correspondence from/to
Mr Rupert Murdoch to which you request access.

It would also be helpful to reduce the time frame of your application
corresponding to the time frame where the correspondence you are looking
for took place.

Please note that your request will only be registered the moment we
receive your clarifications.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Yours faithfully,

BLURIOT-PUEBLA Madeleine

Dear Secretariat General,

Thank you for your message. I believed I had narrowed the request sufficiently already. Given this please can you reassess your request for the title of each piece of correspondence having regard to Reg 6(3) of 1049/2001.

However I would be willing to accept all correspondence which contained the words "News Corp" or "Membership".

Yours faithfully,

Wim Piper
