Data Protection Bill
Dear European Parliament,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
-Which members of the European Parliament voted in favor of the new proposed data protection bill(s)
-Which members of the European Parliament voted against the new proposed date protection bill(s)
-A copy of the proposed data protection bill(s)
Yours faithfully,
Robin Schiller
Dear Sir,
Further to your request for documents relating to legislation in the data
protection field, please note that there is no such a thing as a "bill".
The European Parliament (EP) is currently working on both a Regulation and
a Directive on this matter. Please follow the link below to a press
release the EP issued on 21 Oct 2013. At the end of the page (under
"Further information") you will find links for both procedure files
(Regulation and Directive) and from there you can access all the documents
thus far available and also monitor their evolution.

Further more, and as you can see from above, none of these files have yet
been submitted to the EP's Plenary, so the only voting that took place was
at Committee level (Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs
- LIBE). At that level there is no roll call vote, so only the voting
result is known and not which Member voted what. However, when the files
go to the Plenary (scheduled for some time in March or April), if there is
a roll call vote, you will be able to see the individual votes. You will
also be able to download the documents and follow the ensuing debate at

Finally, both files were discussed at the same Committee meeting, which
you can follow here (please check the agenda on the right of the screen to
know which part of the discussion you need to watch):
