Dear Human Resources and Security,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which relate to any article 16, article 12B and article 40 (staff regulations) applications made by Diederik Samsom for his move to Gasunie and any other external paid work.

More information is available here, for example: https://t.co/s8VUWFhg0K

In particular, I request a note of all Mr Samsom's job titles at the Commission including dates held; copies of any application(s) that he has made under article 12b, 16 and 40 to undertake a new professional activity; and all documents (correspondence, emails, meeting notes etc) related to the authorisation of the new role or roles.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms Cann,

Please find in attachment the reply to your request for access to documents ref. EASE 2024/3450.

With best regards,

HR F.5 - Ethical Conduct

Dear Human Resources and Security,

Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Diederik Samsom's move to Gasunie', 2024/3450.

Thank you for your response; but I would like to appeal.

There is a huge public interest in releasing the requested documents. For a number of years Mr Samsom was a very senior person in the Commission and his new role has received widespread media coverage at the EU and Dutch levels. Additionally it has been reported that he has breached the ethics rules when his new job was made public before he had requested, let alone secured, authorisation for the move. For the legitimate scrutiny of a.) potential conflicts of interest and b.) the Commission's handling of revolving door moves, transparency of all authorisations for new roles is key.

I look foward to receiving the documents. Thank you in advance,

Yours faithfully,

Vicky Cann
