Dear European Aviation Safety Agency,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
I am reaching out to request information regarding any safety assessments, reports, or technical evaluations conducted by EASA concerning Sun Air Aviation, particularly in relation to its inclusion in the EU Air Safety List on 15 August 2024.
As EASA plays a critical role in auditing civil aviation authorities (CAAs) and advising on airline safety compliance, I seek to understand whether EASA conducted any audits, inspections, or assessments that contributed to this decision.
Under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 on public access to documents, I request:
1. Any safety reports, audits, or evaluations carried out by EASA on Sun Air Aviation or the Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) from 2005 to present.
2. Any EASA recommendations, safety advisories, or concerns raised about Sun Air Aviation before its inclusion in the EU Air Safety List.
3. Any communications between EASA and the European Commission (DG MOVE) regarding Sun Air Aviation’s or Sudanese Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) compliance with ICAO safety standards.
I understand that EASA does not directly issue bans but provides technical safety expertise to EU institutions. In light of this, any insights or documents related to Sun Air Aviation’s safety status would be highly appreciated.
Please confirm receipt of this request and provide a response within the statutory timeframe under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001. If additional details are required, please let me know.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Yours faithfully,
M Omer
