EIA Project One Ineos
Dear Environment,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
This request is in regards to the intended construction by IENOS of Project One in Belgium, which will be one of the biggest petrochemical plants in Europe in 30 years.
We know an Independent Environmental and Social Consultant has carried out a review of the project-related documents, which you should have.
This is referred to in the below UK government notice: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicatio...
1. Please could you send us the summary and conclusion of the review of project-related documentation by an Independent Environmental and Social Consultant (IESC)
The documents reviewed include: Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs); Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) including physical and transition risks; External Safety Report; Human Rights Due Diligence in the Supply Chain; and a Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP).
If there is a separate review for each document, please send the summaries and conclusions for each document
2. Please also forward any equivalent social and environment impact assessment of the INEOS Project One submitted by the UK government and its ministerial departments/advisors to the EU
I would like to make clear I prefer you produce the documents on a rolling basis.
At no point should the Commission’s search for—or deliberations concerning—certain documents delay the production of others that the Commission has already retrieved and elected to produce.
To the extent possible, I would prefer the documents in electronic format.
Should my request be denied wholly or partially, please explain the denial or all deletions referring to specific exemptions in the regulation. Also I expect the partial release of documents, in case of partial exemption according to article 4.6.
I reserve the right to appeal.
My postal address is;
Comeragh Road
London, UK
Please confirm having received this application. I look forward to your reply within 15 business days, according to the regulation.
Yours faithfully,
Conor McGlone
