Dear Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

What proportion of the costs for elderly care in Sweden (both in an individual's home and in nursing homes) is borne by the Swedish government and what proportion is funded by the individual needing care.

Please provide data for 2017 and 2018.

Yours faithfully,
The Live-in Care Hub ( https://www.liveincarehub.co.uk )

Sandra Hult, Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU

Dear Julie Lord,

Hope this email finds you well.

The 290 municipalities in Sweden are responsible for social services, including care of elderly.
Sweden has a long tradition of self government. That means that the municipalities have wide-ranging responsibilities and largely finance themselves by means of local and county council taxes and the fees paid by the citizens for various services ( for example home help service and special housings). For further information in this matter I would recommend you to contact The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions:
