Dear Ms. Gaertner,

This concerns your request for public access to documents relating to Mr.
Johan Van Overtveldt in his role as European Parliament's rapporteur for
the Revision of the Energy Taxation Directive, during his tenure as a
Member of the European Parliament (MEP) (period between 2019-2024).

Meetings between Members and interest representatives are published on the
MEP’s official website. From there by clicking on a particular member, you
can access their website and find the list of meetings. Such meeting
declarations are regulated by [1]Article 7 of Annex I of the Rules of
Procedure of the European Parliament. In particular, for Mr. Van
Overtveldt, you can access this list by clicking [2]here.

Please note that Parliament does not hold any documents related to
meetings between Members and third parties, if the meeting was not part of
a parliamentary activity (e.g. in the context of a committee meeting) and
was therefore held without the involvement of Parliament’s administration.
Indeed, Parliament’s administration has no access to Members’ private
offices (see also [3]Rule 125(2) of Parliament’s Rule of Procedure).

Moreover, pieces of correspondence, memos and any other background
documents concerning communications with third parties are usually held by
the Members and, should you wish to have access to them, you may get in
touch with the concerned (former) Member.

For further information regarding the specific interest representatives
mentioned, you can consult the profiles of the entities listed within your
request by searching their name on the [4]transparency register. If you
scroll down on the results page, you will find a list of meeting
declarations between the entity and the European Parliament.

Finally, you may find useful documents relevant to the specific scope of
your request under the following links, which are also available on the
MEP’s website:
