Dear European Border and Coast Guard Agency,
The European Commission document titled “ANNEX to the COMMISSION DECISION approving the Memorandum of Understanding between the European Commission, European Asylum Support Office, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Europol and the Fundamental Rights Agency, of the one part, and the Government of Hellenic Republic, of the other part, on a Joint Pilot for the establishment of a new Multi-Purpose Reception and Identification Centre in Lesvos,” states that Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, in cooperation with other authorities, will:
“Assess the situation from a safety and security perspective” in the new Multi-Purpose Reception and Identification Centre (MPRIC) on Lesvos through “regular continuous assessments” and “visit on recurrent basis.”
To this regard, under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting the following documents:
All correspondence and documents regarding, related to, or mentioning such safety and security assessments and visits at MPRICs (also referred to as “Closed Controlled Access Centers”) on Lesvos (or Lesbos), Samos, Kos, and Leros islands and in Fylakio, Evros.
If parts of the requested information are not held by you I request that you forward my request to the appropriate authority.
Yours faithfully,
Lydia Emmanouilidou
