Green commuting survey
Dear European Central Bank,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
How many ECB employees hold a currently valid RMV-Jobticket Premium?
How many spots are there in the ECB building to park bicycles and/or e-bicycles?
Yours faithfully,
Pedro Martinez
Dear Mr Martinez,
Thank you for your request of 3 November 2021.
The European Central Bank (ECB) is committed to support environmentally
friendly ways to commute to our facilities and continuously encourages
staff to explore alternative modes of transportation. We have several
measures in place to ensure the reduction of emission relating to the
commute of staff such as a discounted tickets for both the regional
public transport (RMV) and a bike sharing service operating in Frankfurt.
In 2019, approximately 49% of all staff took advantage of the discounted
Job Ticket for public transport. All three of our buildings are located in
the immediate proximity of public transport stations and are equipped with
changing rooms, showers, lockers and 779 bicycle parking stands.
Additionally, our main building offers fitted charging points for electric
vehicles accessible to staff and visitors. In order to avoid or further
reduce emissions arising from staff commuting, the ECB endorses online
collaboration with a teleworking and flexible working time regime already
in place before the pandemic.
Please refer to our [1]environmental statement available on our [2]website
to monitor the ECB’s progress with regards to our actions taken towards
greening our commuting habits.
Yours sincerely,
Internal and External Engagement Division
