Huawei and ZTE equipment in the Berlaymont building
Dear Human Resources and Security,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting information regarding the network equipment used in the Commission's Berlaymont building. Does the building's IT infrastructure rely on equipment by Chinese manufacturers Huawei and ZTE?
This request for information is meant to include information on equipment such as routers, switches, network modems or any other equipment currently at use in the Berlaymont that was made by Huawei or ZTE. I kindly ask to provide details, such as how much equipment by these manufacturers is installed in the Berlaymont, when was it installed, and whether the Commission considers there is any security risk related to the use of said manufacturers.
I ask to treat this as a request for information, rather than a request for documents, consistent with Regulation 1049/2001.
Yours faithfully,
Alexander Fanta
