The vision for the future of EU_Confindustria-BDI.pdf; Joint
Declaration_Confindustria-BDI.pdf

Dear colleagues,

On Friday 9th November,
 and
(GROW F1) met with Gaia della Rocca from
Confindustria to exchange views on strategic value chains and the further development of the industrial
policy strategy. Confindustria sees Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) as an
integral part of industrial policy. Confindustria is actively contributing to the Strategic Forum on IPCEIs
and has submitted a number of value chain proposals, but sees also a need to address how the IPCEI
instrument could better support strategic value chains. Confindustria would like to discuss the obstacles
for IPCEIs in the next meeting of the Strategic Forum. The role of strategic value chains for industrial
policy is also underlined in the new German-Italian industry priorities signed on 9 November by
Confindustria and BDI (German Industry Federation) – see attached Confindustria/BDI
recommendations.

explained that the timeline of the Strategic Forum will be accelerated, aiming to publish a
final report together with the Industry 2030 report and announcing the selected six value chains at EU
Industry Days 2019. Following a proposal by Italy, the meeting of the Strategic Forum on 13 November
will include an agenda item on IPCEIs.

Finally, Gaia della Rocca gave background for an upcoming meeting between
 and
representatives of Confindustria Emilia.

Kind regards,
