We refer to your request for access to European Commission documents registered on 1
August 2024 under the above-mentioned reference number.
You request access to:
“All documents containing applications by countries participating in the ETS to include
such additional activities and gases according to Article 24 of 2009/29/EC in the current
(2021-2039) ETS trading phase, and the corresponding decisions by the commission”.
Concerning your request regarding the Commission Decisions, we invite you to check the
documents and EU Commission decisions on the opt-in of additional activities and gases
and installations in accordance with Article 24 of the ETS Directive, available at the

We regret to inform you that DG CLIMA does not hold any documents that would
correspond to the description given in your application regarding the requests from
Member States participating in the ETS to include additional activities and gases in the
current (2021-2030) ETS trading phase, as there have been no requests to opt in new gases
or activities in the current trading period (2021-2030).
You may reuse public documents, which have been produced by the European Commission
or by public and private entities on its behalf based on the Commission Decision on the reuse
of Commission documents. You may reuse the document disclosed free of charge and for
non-commercial and commercial purposes provided that the source is acknowledged and that
you do not distort the original meaning or message of the document. Please note that the
Commission does not assume liability stemming from the reuse.
