Thank you for your request for access to documents of the Council of the European Union.1

Indeed, we have found the said reference to the Council Legal Service – which could have
happened orally - only in documents ST 8141/22 and in its revised versions ST 8141/1/22 REV1
and ST 8141/2/22 REV2, among all those related to the Proposal for a Directive of the European
Parliament and of the Council on the protection of the environment through criminal law and
replacing Directive 2008/99/EC.
We conducted extensive research with the relevant service in charge of this matter and with the
Council Legal Service but, unfortunately, we could not find any document corresponding to your
request.
