Letter from Commissioner Valean to the Dutch government. about Schiphol flights cap
Dear DG Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE),
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
Last week Dutch infrastructure minister Mark Harbers in a letter informed the Dutch parliament that the government had given up on a plan to cap the maximum number of flights at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.
Harbers also mentioned that after a US-EU meeting on November 13th, European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean had sent the Dutch government a letter expressing "serious concerns" about whether the cap had been properly vetted.
I herewith request access to the above-mentioned letter from European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean to the Dutch government.
Yours faithfully,
Olivier Hoedeman

Dear DG Mobility and Transport,
in my access to documents request with case number 2023/6978 I asked for access to the letter sent by Commissioner Adina Vălean to the Dutch Minister Mark Harbers on 13 November 2023 about a cap on the maximum number of movements at Schiphol airport.
My request was refused because "a review by the Commission is currently on-going" into the Dutch government's planned cap. The Dutch government has however announced its withdrawal of the measure (referring to the mentioned letter from Commissioner Vălean).
Could you update me about the status of the Commission's review? Is it still ongoing? If so, how long is it estimated to last? When it is closed, will the letter be released?
Yours faithfully,
Olivier Hoedeman
