We are writing concerning your request for access to Commission documents registered on 29
February 2024 under case number 2024/1160.
We are not able to identify any document based on the description given in your request drafted as
follows:
- Information on any spyware detected on devices of any Commission staffers or members of the
college and their cabinets, and who those individuals are. If spyware has been found, we would like to
know what the procedure is to clean the infected device.
- What safeguards the Commission has in place to ensure that devices used by staffers and members
of the college and cabinets are protected from spyware.
- Any documentation about spyware or potentially malicious computer programs or software
detected on devices used by Commission officials and Commissioners.
- Any other details on examples of spyware detected on devices used by officials in the European
Commission.
In line with Article 6(2) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding public access to documents, we
invite you clarify your request, since the scope of the first, third and fourth indent of your request
seems to be the same.
The 15 working days to reply to your request will start running only when you reply to this message. If
you do not reply within 7 working days, we will close this case in line with our detailed rules for the
application of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.
