Dear
,
Many thanks for getting back to us. We understand that the diaries are very full with the current
legislative agenda. However, in light of the comments made yesterday in the French press about
an EC legislative proposal to be presented by end 2022, we wanted to ask if you would
reconsider having a targeted meeting on this topic before the summer.
Kind regards,

Dear
I would like to thank you on behalf of Penelope Papandropoulos and Werner Stengg for your kind
proposal to organise a deeper dive on content delivery in the coming weeks. Due to a extremely
charged legislative agenda and a very busy program of the Cabinet in the following months, they are
unfortunately not able to take part to such a meeting. We are really sorry for that and we would
suggest that you reach out after the summer break to follow-up on this initiative. Thank you in
advance for your comprehension.
Best regards,

Dear Werner, dear Penelope,
Following on from our previous conversation in April we wanted to reach out and see if you
would have the availability for a deeper dive on content delivery in the coming weeks.
We would be glad to arrange a discussion with our
at Netflix and take any questions you may have on the topic.
We await your answer with keen interest.
Best regards,

Dear Werner, Dear Penelope,
Thank you for your time and availability to meet yesterday. At Netflix we are deeply
committed to bringing the greatest European stories together from across the region. One of
our core beliefs is that great stories can come from anywhere and travel everywhere.
We mentioned a few papers and studies:
A Netflix white paper describing our cooperative approach to content delivery. It
aims at showcasing our collaborative outlook on network efficiency through our
Open Connect caching program and our mutually beneficial business partnerships
with internet service providers across Europe. We have discussed these findings
with DG Connect and Commissioner Breton's Cabinet. Together with my
colleague
, we
would be happy to hold a further meeting with you and any other colleagues to dive
deeper on this topic, should it be of interest.
The independent research on the prominence of EU works on Netflix by
La Sorbonne University. It finds that European works do not
suddenly disappear from the Netflix homepage, even when a user only watches
non-European titles. Please find it attached.
The Key Trends 2021/2022 Yearbook by the European Audiovisual Observatory
(EAO), which challenges several assumptions regarding the circulation of
European works and regarding "global streamers". Please find it here.
We remain at your disposal for any further information. Looking forward to our continued
cooperation.
Kind regards,
