Meeting with the Tony Blair Institute on 24/10/2023

The request was partially successful.

Dear Justice and Consumers,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

- All documents relating to a meeting with the Tony Blair Institute on 24/10/2023. This is meant to include meeting minutes, briefing notes, e-mails, etc. In case Tony Blair himself attended, I ask not to redact his name on the documents, as he is a public figure.

Yours faithfully,

Alexander Fanta

Dear Justice and Consumers,

Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Meeting with the Tony Blair Institute on 24/10/2023'.

Initially, I would like to thank DG Just for the timely reply to this request.

I am filing this confirmatory application mainly because I find it hard to believe that there are no minutes, notes or any other kind of documents on the actual breakfast round-table event on October 24, 2023, as referenced in the documents. By this, I mean a "back to the office" report, minutes or perhaps an e-mail giving a summary of what was said. I ask the Commission to search for such a record, and provide it if possible. I note in this context that document 2 was apparently only added to the document register after my request, so perhaps other relevant documents have yet to be found.

Further, I would like to ask for an explanation regarding some of the redacted parts of document 2. For instance, the venue appears to have been redacted from the e-mail, as well as the registered company number of the TBI as well as where its office is registered. I would like to understand how this constitutes information related to the privacy and integrity of an individual, as referenced in Article 4(1)(b) of the Regulation, and how disclosure would undermine protection thereof. The venue of an event is not, as I understand it, personal data under Regulation 2018/1725. In any event, I ask to be given access to this information, as it could be relevant for comparisons with the information TBI has given on the Transparency Register.

Yours faithfully,

Alexander Fanta
