Dear Mr Samson,
Dear Diederik,
Hope you and the entire team are doing well. It continues to be very busy and the times
still uncertain but we are encouraged and optimistic as we look forward to a reboot in
EU-US relations.
I am writing to you to ask whether you would be available for
a short video call in the
coming weeks. I would be very pleased to introduce you to
and
who has
recently replaced
and also to present you briefly our work on
economic recovery.
Following-up on our previous exchange (see below), I would also be pleased to further
discuss with you the possibility of a meeting with Executive Vice-President Timmermans
and our membership in 2021 and bounce off some ideas that we have for such

discuss this with him interactively.
As a further follow-up to the meeting, I am sending to you the link to our COVID-19
platform. AmCham EU has developed this new public portal to share information and
resources on the COVID-19 pandemic. The portal brings together updates from the EU
institutions and Member States, as well as insights into the business response to the
crisis. It also features initiatives from member companies to support local communities
in Europe and globally through these unprecedented times. Moreover, AmCham EU has
launched a campaign to highlight the importance of EU cooperation and solidarity that
aims to support the efforts of the EU institutions to coordinate a European-wide
response to COVID-19.
I would also like to share with you our statement on the
Next Generation EU plan in
support of this unprecedented measures as well as our brand new
first Economic
Recovery paper on Overcoming COVID-19: Laying the foundation for a more resilient
EU aiming to support policymakers throughout the entire recovery phase and to ensure
that Europe does not stall on its road to recovery.
Finally, on behalf of us all, I would like to express our gratitude to your team for all their
help with the organisation of the meeting. As also mentioned, we would be delighted to
invite you, yourself, to one of our virtual Board meetings. I will follow-up with you
separately on this.
On behalf of the entire membership of AmCham EU, I wish you and your colleagues good
health. We look forward to engaging constructively with you and your team in the
future.
Best regards,
Chair AmChams in Europe
