The meeting with 
 was very short as it occurred in the margin of the 
& follow-up
conference the Commissioner had with the Atlantic Council and the IRENA Assembly in 
Abu Dhabi.
 presented the Global CCS Institute as a think tank that is doing a lot of 
financing, they are present in Brussels but also advise the US Administration. 
 wanted to have a discussion on the Green Deal and he role CCS could have in a 
NetZero society and in particular in the context of carbon neutrality. 
 presented the recently published status report of the GCCSI and explained that 
there are several new projects that are operational. He mentioned the project in 
Rotterdam. 
 explained the impact of carbon price on the development of CCS projects. 
The commissioner enquired about the public acceptance of the CCS technology and the 
question of leakage, if any, and how this is taken into account in their studies. She also 
explained that the Commission is working on the decarbonisation of gas and that 
funding for gas projects through EU funds will be reviewed with the TEN­E review end 
of 2020 TEN­E regulation needs to be in line with the aims of the Green Deal. They 
discussed the issue of carbon capture which is a well­developed practice but the issue 
around transport and storage where the industry has less experience. 
They agreed on the possibility to receive more information on the ongoing projects 
especially on offshore extraction where trials are ongoing.
