Dear Mr
,
Thank you for your letter of 25 November 2020 on the European Clean Hydrogen
Alliance and the role of gas infrastructures in that context.
Delivering on the objectives of the Hydrogen strategy for a climate-neutral Europe is
likely to require in the medium term the availability of infrastructure for transporting
hydrogen from supply facilities to demand centres, including repurposed pipelines and
hydrogen storage facilities. Therefore, we welcome the engagement of Gas Infrastructure
Europe in the development of the clean hydrogen value chain in Europe.
The European Clean Hydrogen Alliance is expected to play a catalysing role in building
a pipeline of viable projects and an investment agenda towards the objective of climate-
neutrality. Since its launch in July this year, there have already been almost 1000
signatories to the Alliance, which shows the great interest of stakeholders to participate
in this endeavour.
The Alliance is now entering into a new operational phase with the work of thematic
roundtables, including one on clean hydrogen transmission and distribution, starting in
January 2021. I look forward to our further cooperation in the context of the European
Clean Hydrogen Alliance in implementing the objectives of the new Hydrogen strategy
for a climate-neutral Europe.
Yours sincerely,
(e-signed)
Kerstin Jorna
