Lovely to hear from you. I am good thanks, no summer holiday yet maybe in
September…I hope you are well too.
The short answer to your question, and in principle only as I have not discussed
more widely yet, would be ‘Yes!’ I can see great value in a MoU between the ICO
and the EDPS for all of the reasons you suggest. I also agree that this would be a
very useful step towards greater cooperation with the EDPB which, as you know,
we have been pushing towards, with limited success, for some time.
I would be happy to have a meeting with you and colleagues when you are back
from leave, so that we can discuss next steps and share initial thoughts about
content of a MoU.
I am on leave from 31 August for a few days, returning to work on 6 September, so
perhaps we should look at dates in the week beginning 11 September?
In the meantime, I hope you have a great holiday and look forward to seeing you
soon..

I hope you are having a nice summer (break).
I would like to ask whether there would be an interest on your part to conclude a
Memorandum of Understanding with the EDPS. The idea would be to consolidate
cooperation across a number of areas which has already happened in the past (e.g.
staff exchanges) or is ongoing, both on supervision and enforcement and policy
side. We would also see it as a strong signal to our counterparts and the EDPB to
support and engage in more structured forms of cooperation with the ICO.
If this is something that should be more usefully taken up directly with
please do not hesitate to let me know.
Fyi, I will be on holiday for the next two weeks, back on 28 August.
