Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
- All correspondence - including attachments - between DG Energy and third-parties, in which the topic of the EU Methane Regulation was mentioned or disccussed. I am interested in correspondence between 2023 and today.
By third-parties, I refer to stakeholders that are not part of the European Commission (e.g. private companies, consultancies, trade groups, think-tanks, etc.).

I am filing the following confirmatory application with regards to my access to documents request 'Methane regulation'.
In its response, DG Energy stated that:
"With regard to the above-mentioned documents, a complete disclosure is prevented by the
exception concerning the protection of privacy and the integrity of the individual outlined
in Article 4(1)(b) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001, because they contain the following
personal data:
- the names/initials and contact information of Commission staff members not
pertaining to the senior management;
- the names/initials and contact details of other natural persons"
I am not interested in obtaining personal data or information. However, with regards to one of the documents partially disclosed, significant redaction has been applied, including of parts of the documents that do not contain personal information protected by the above-mentioned exception.
Therefore, I am requesting that full disclosure of the following document is granted, except for those parts that actually contain persona information.
