Minimum space between seats
Dear European Aviation Safety Agency,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I wish to request all documents related to a rule change that would have introduced a minimum space between airline seats. Such as rule change was considered by EASA in 2007, according to contemporary press reports. A report published by the Daily Telegraph newspaper on 23 June 2007 quotes Elisabeth Schöffmann, a spokeswoman for the EASA, as saying: "We are studying the possibility of changing the rules and imposing a minimum space between seats for all constructors who want to be registered in Europe."
I wish to request:
- All draft versions of the safety rules in question, as well as any internal EASA discussion papers on the matter
- Any exchanges with other governmental agencies and member states authorities on the issue of minimum seat space
- Any exchanges (emails, letters, meeting minutes, etc) with stakeholders, including airlines and manufacturers, on the proposed rule change
You may find the Daily Telegraph story here: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/73756...
Yours faithfully,
Alexander Fanta
