FW: IMAGINE Food Collective/EU Commission - follow up on
nutrition label ing work
Dear
,
The Farm to Fork Strategy announces that the Commission will prepare, by the end of 2022, a proposal
for harmonised mandatory front-of-pack nutrition labelling and the preparatory work is ongoing.
The Commission has launched the impact assessment exercise of the different policy options through
the publication on 23 December 2020 of the inception impact assessment, which is open for public
feedback until 3 February 2021:
https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/12749-Revision-of-food-
information-to-consumers
https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/12748-Setting-of-nutrient-
profiles
I would like to invite your organisation to contribute to this consultation process.
During the course of this year, stakeholders wil have further opportunities to contribute to the process
towards the Commission proposal for harmonised mandatory front-of-pack nutrition labelling.
portal wil be launched in the context of the impact assessment. In addition, a set of targeted
consultation activities with stakeholders wil be organised and other specific events (e.g. workshop) may
be also be organised during the impact assessment. It is however difficult at this stage to provide you
with further details about these consultation activities.
I hope this information is useful.
Best regards,

Dear
,
Happy New Year, and I hope you had a restful break.
We are looking to continue the progress made with the IMAGINE Food
Collective CEOs on the topic of front of pack nutrition labelling that we
had discussed last year. Following the discussion with EVP Timmermans
in November, the companies are committed to continuing to share their
own internal findings on NutriScore with the Commission, and they have
suggested establishing an informal smal working group to facilitate the
aggregating of this information and explore some of the out-standing
chal enges (ex. Varying serving sizes, perceived bias towards French
diet, etc).
Before we get a meeting on the calendar with the company
representatives, I wanted to confirm with you if there were already
planned engagements with businesses on your agenda as you complete
the impact assessment?
We would like to make sure that we are not duplicating work already in
progress, and that we schedule them at times that work wel based on
your engagement timelines. And of course we wil keep you in the loop
as the group comes together to see when is best for you to engage
directly with them as and where appropriate.
Happy to jump on the phone quickly this week if that could be helpful.
Best,
/
