PFAS lobbying since 1 April 2023
Dear Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, and in addition to my previous requests 2023-2041, 2023-2042, 2023-2045, I would like to request access to the following documents related to lobbying on PFAS, per and polyfluoroalkyl substances. In particular I would like:
1. A list of all meetings/ discussions since 1 April 2023 between officials and or Commissioners with businesses, trade associations, or think tanks where this topic was discussed.
2. Any records, minutes, preparatory briefings, or other notes of these meetings/discussions.
3. All correspondence since 1 April 2023, where this topic was discussed, exchanged between officials and or Commissioners with businesses, trade associations, or think tanks.
To the extent possible, my strong preference is to receive documents in electronic format.
I would also be grateful to receive the documents in batches, as soon as they are identified and available to send.
Please note that I am tabling this request separately to DG Grow, DG Environment, and the Secretariat-General of the Commission, and a similar request to DG Clima, DG Defis, DG Energy, DG Sante, DG JRC, and DG Trade of the Commission, and I look forward to receiving the respective documents accordingly.
Thank you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Vicky Cann

Dear Sir,
We refer to your request for access to documents, registered on 29/01/2024
under the above mentioned reference number.
Your application is currently being handled. However, we will not be in a
position to complete the handling of your application within the time
limit of 15 working days, which expires today.
An extended time limit is needed as the application concerns different
Services which must be consulted.
Therefore, we have to extend the time limit with 15 working days in
accordance with Article 7(3) of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 regarding
public access to documents. The new time limit expires on 11/03/2024.
We apologize for this delay and for any inconvenience this may cause.
Yours sincerely.

Dear [email address],
Thank you for the reply.
I submitted my request on 26 January 2024; it is very disappointing to wait 3 months for a substantive reply and to then only be directed to a separate request.
Additionally EASE 2023/5816 was tabled on 3 October 2023. The period October 2023-January 2024 is not covered by EASE 2023/5816 but would have been covered by my own request.
Please could you reconsider and supply the documents relating to this period?
I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Vicky Cann
Dear Ms Cann,
Thank you for your email.
We will conduct the additional search and get back to you as soon as possible.

Dear Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs,
Please pass this on to the person who reviews confirmatory applications.
Thank you for the documents for part 2 of EASE 2024/0567. I would like to request a review of the decision to not release documents 21 and 33. These documents are described as being "out of scope of this request" but it is hard to understand in that case why they are listed at all in the document register provided if they are not relevant. Instead 21 seems very much relevant and likely related to document 20. For 33 it is not clear who sent and who received the letter but again it seems unlikely to be out of scope if it is listed in the document register provided.
I look forward to your reconsideration. Thank you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Vicky Cann

We will handle your confirmatory request within 15 working days as of the
date of registration. The time-limit expires on 26/07/2024. We will let
you know if we need to extend this time limit for additional 15 working
days.
Yours faithfully,
Secretariat-General - Access to Documents
European Commission
Dear Ms Cann,
Please be informed that your confirmatory request was dully forwarded for the review to the Secretariat-General of the European Commission.
At the same time, we would like to take this opportunity to inform you that:
- with reference to item 21 - this is a record not a document, i.e. it does not concern EU policies, it concerns technical details of the organisation of a Webex call, including dealing-in numbers, passwords, https addresses; it is therefore out of scope of your request and should not in any case be in the public domain (also for reasons of cybersecurity);
- with reference item 33 - this is not a DG GROW document therefore it falls out of scope of your request concerning documents of DG GROW, for your information the document originates from DG CLIMA.
Both items were included in the table to provide you with the outmost transparency.
Finally, we would kindly ask you, for the future reference, with reference to the launching the confirmatory requests to follow the instructions provided in the reply to your initial request, i.e.:
"a confirmatory application should be addressed to the Secretariat-General of the Commission within 15 working days upon receipt of this letter.
You can submit it in one of the following ways:
by asking for a review via your portal account (available only for initial requests submitted via the portal account),
or by mail:
European Commission
