Record of meeting held on 03/03/2025
Dear Communications Networks, Content and Technology,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I wish to request any record of the meeting held on 03/03/2025 between Giuseppe Abbamonte (Director of CNECT I) and representatives of the advertising and publishing industry, as well as the French Permanent Representation and the European Parliament.
In understand that DG Connect has proactively published minutes to this meeting, but these appear to contain only a very general description and refer to the fact he meeting was held under "Chatham House Rules". I do not believe Regulation 1049/2001 or the case law recognizes Chatham House Rules. I wish to request any notes, transcripts, informal minutes or any other document recording the content of said meeting verbatim or in summary.
I make this request in my role as a journalist covering legislative developments in the EU's tech policy. My particular interest in these minutes is to understand stakeholder's positions in regard to possible legislative changes and their lobbying around them. I note that Regulation 1049 and case law has recognized a particular right to scrutiny of document which are part of legislative files, as appears the case here with the reference to the evaluation of the AVMS Directive, the ePrivacy Directive and the proposed new law on green claims.
Yours faithfully,
Alexander Fanta
