Request for Frontex aircraft/drone mission logs, communications and any mayday broadcasts from Frontex-tasked surveillance assets over the Central Mediterranean on the two dates.
Dear European Border and Coast Guard Agency,
Under Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001 and applicable Frontex access rules, I request access to the following records related to Frontex-tasked aerial surveillance assets operating in the Central Mediterranean on 24 August 2025 and 26 September 2025:
Mission logs, tasking orders, flight plans, and after-action reports for all Frontex-tasked aircraft, manned surveillance planes and unmanned aerial systems (UAS/drones) active in the Central Mediterranean on those dates. Include mission IDs, aircraft/drone type, callsigns/registration, crew/remote-pilots’ roles, and exact take-off and landing times (UTC).
Any radio transcripts, voice recordings, or logs of transmissions made by those aerial assets (including mayday broadcasts, relay transmissions, or any automated distress broadcasts sent by those assets) on the specified dates.
Records of who those aerial assets reported sightings/alerts to (JRCC Tripoli, national MRCCs, Frontex Ops, NGOs), including timestamps and message content or copy of messages.
Any “identification” statements made by Frontex aircraft to third parties during or immediately after sightings (e.g. “this is Frontex aircraft X” or similar).
Preferred format: original electronic flight/mission logs, audio files (if any), and searchable PDFs. Include metadata and headers for all files.
Timeframe searched: 24 Aug 2025 and 26 Sep 2025 (plus immediate 24-hour after-action records).
Disclosure / redaction: Please disclose in full; if redaction is claimed, provide a narrowly redacted version with legal justification.
Please confirm receipt and advise expected reply date as required by Regulation 1049/2001.
