Request regarding e-waste
Dear Environment (ENV),
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
Could you please give us a list of the European countries that were caught illegally exporting e-waste since 2000?
Additionally, we are also interested in the amount of tonnes (percentage) of e-waste already collected by the following countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Luxembourg.
We are looking forward hearing from you.
Thank you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Kerlijn Puttemans
Nele Desmaele,
Jonas Verheyen
and Lieke D'hondt
Dear madam, dear sir
We would like to inform you that EUROSTAT provides data on Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) that are collected by the
Member States on the following link:

DG Environment has not maintained a list of countries that were caught
exporting e-waste illegally since 2000. However, an indicative list of
these countries could possibly become available through IMPEL-TFS, which
in recent years has carried out a number of joint enforcement actions in
Member States and has reported illegal shipments of waste, including
e-waste (see
