TB in UK prisons.
Dear European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:
1) Number of TB cases in the UK notified in prison, grouped by individual prison (e.g. no. of notified TB cases at HMP Wormwood Scrubs etc.)
If any part of this request is unclear or you need any further information about my request, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I expect a response within 20 working days following receipt of this request.
Best wishes,
Emma
Dear Emma,
Thank you for your email.
The United Kingdom notifies the total number of new tuberculosis cases in
prisons to the European Centre of Disease Prevention and World Health
Organization Regional Office for Europe TB surveillance database. Data on
the number of tuberculosis cases in individual prisons are not available
in the European Centre of Disease Prevention and World Health Organization
Regional Office for Europe TB surveillance database.
In 2014, a total of 41 new TB cases in prisons were notified by the UK.
This information is available in Table 19, page 105 of the Tuberculosis
Surveillance and Monitoring in Europe 2016 report
([1]http://ecdc.europa.eu/en/publications/_l...).
I hope this helps,
With kind regards,
Mimmi Delsing
