Von der Leyen in Paris
Dear Secretariat-General of the European Commission,
Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain any form of information regarding the non-attendance to the re-opening of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on 7 December 2024 by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The attendance was first officially confirmed on 5 December by a Commission spokesperson [1] and then cancelled due to not specified scheduling issues, as another Commission spokesperson said [2] on 12 December.
In particular, I’d like to get access to all correspondence (i.e. any emails, correspondence, telephone call notes, and/or text messages including WhatsApp exchanges) from 1 November 2024 to 13 December 2024 between the Cabinet Office of President von der Leyen (including herself) or any other European Commission body and any French government representative on the topic of the re-opening of the Notre Dame Cathedral, either if for confirming von der Leyen’s presence or her non-attendance.
I request also any internal communication within von der Leyen’s team in the same timeframe with the topic of the Notre Dame Cathedral re-opening as the subject matter.
The documentation should include but not be limited to: general communications of any nature, written material of any kind, email correspondences, attendance lists, agendas, background papers, briefing papers, transcriptions of meetings, readouts of meetings, summaries of meetings, briefings for meetings, etc...
Yours faithfully,
Gerardo Fortuna
